OUTREACH-CAREPORTAL

The Global Orphan Project (“GO Project”)  is a global non-profit organization headquartered in Kansas City.  GO Project operates the CarePortal platform – www.careportal.org – to connect children and families in crisis with local churches, so churches can meet the needs of and build relationships with families on the brink of losing their children to foster care.  CarePortal is active in 29 states (including in Kansas City, Missouri), with 707 child welfare agencies, 4402+ churches using CarePortal to serve more than 179,978 children.  The CarePortal network and impact is exponentially increasing every month.

CarePortal has a specific emphasis to empower local churches in low-income African American communities to serve children and families in their own communities, as part of a national plan to reverse racial disproportionality in child welfare.  World Harvest and iCare Village have been of central importance to this plan.  In the year, World Harvest has served more than 500 children through CarePortal, with a financial impact of over $500,000. which is more than any church (white or black, rich or poor) in America.  This ministry includes a first-of-its-kind partnership in the nation with Division 1 football programs, with players on the team partnering with World Harvest and other churches across the country to help meet the needs of children and families in crisis. facebook.com/100087094068759/videos/2087473841443802/?extid=NS-UNK-UNK-UNK-IOS_GK0T-GK1C&mibextid=F44Fru

Serving children and families in crisis in low-income neighborhoods on the east side of Troost Avenue – and elevating them to better lives with healthy relational support – is at the heart of our ministry, and we have become a highly trusted go-to place for hurting children and families in our community.  It is our desire to take what we have learned and share and replicate it with other local churches in the community, with each local church taking ownership of the care of children and families in the “village” around them.

Joe Knittig is the CEO of The Global Orphan Project and the CarePortal platform.  Joe also serves as the Missions Pastor of World Harvest, serving under Bishop Glenn.
